Daisy Edgar Jones and Colson Baker to star in Almeida’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

The cast of Almeida Theatre’s upcoming production of Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof has been announced, with Daisy Edgar Jones and Colson Baker set to play Maggie and Brick.

The production, directed by Rebecca Frecknall, will run from 24 June to 13 August 2023. Joining Edgar Jones and Baker in the cast are: Emun Elliott as Big Daddy, Sienna Miller as Big Mama, Lisa Palfrey as Mae, and Stanley Townsend as Doctor Baugh.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is a classic play by Tennessee Williams, first produced in 1955. The play tells the story of a dysfunctional family gathered at their plantation for the birthday of Big Daddy, the patriarch. The family is struggling to come to terms with Big Daddy’s impending death, and his wife Big Mama’s denial of his condition. Maggie, Big Daddy’s daughter-in-law, is determined to save her marriage to Brick, Big Daddy’s alcoholic son, but Brick is haunted by the death of his close friend Skipper.

The Almeida’s production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is highly anticipated, with Frecknall’s previous work including the acclaimed productions of Summer and Winter and Cabaret. Edgar Jones is best known for her roles in the television series Normal People and the film Where the Crawdads Sing, while Baker is a musician and actor who has starred in films such as The Dirt and Bird Box.
