In 1995, McMichael was hired by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). On September 4, 1995, he made his debut with the company as the pro-babyface. Despite his success in professional wrestling, McMichael's true passion was football.
Diagnosed with ALS in 2016, McMichael's health declined rapidly. However, he remained determined to make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. With the help of his wife, Misty, and the support of his fans, McMichael was able to attend the ceremony in spirit.
