Joint Effort: Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany Collaborate on CAVS Programme
Official Signing for Enhanced Troop Transportation
Protection and Modernization Take Center Stage
On April 17, 2023, a significant milestone was achieved as the technical arrangement for the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) was formally signed. This agreement between Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany marks a crucial step in the joint development and procurement of new armored vehicles for troop transportation.
The CAVS vehicles are designed to replace the TPz Fuchs and M113 currently used by the participating countries. Patria, a Finnish defense company, has partnered with Defence Service Logistics (DSL) and Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG) for production cooperation.
The CAVS program was initially established by Finland and Latvia, with Sweden and Germany joining later. This collaboration highlights the importance of international cooperation in defense procurement and signifies a shared commitment to enhancing troop protection and mobility.
