Adjusting Your Vehicle's Parking Brake: Two Efficient Methods
Method 1: Utilizing the Wheeltire
This technique involves removing the wheeltire and drum to access the parking brake components. Once removed, you can proceed to adjust the setup until the drum fits snugly.
Method 2: Employing a Vice Grip
Step 1: Secure the Adjuster Rod
Using a vice grip, carefully clamp down on the front end of the threaded adjuster rod. This action will prevent it from rotating.
Step 2: Breaking the Nut Loose
With the adjuster rod secured, proceed to break loose the nut located on the brake cable.
Step 3: Adjust the Brake Cable
Turn the nut to adjust the tension of the brake cable. Ensure that the brake pads engage smoothly with the rotors.
Step 4: Tighten the Locknut
Once the appropriate adjustment is made, tighten the locknut to secure the settings.
